Last Second Decision.....

These past couple of weeks have been crazy busy for me. I've had lots of exams, quizzes, & meetings. On top of everything else, it was also Regional Basketball. Needless to say it was a little difficult to focus & study when both the boys & girls teams were doing so good. Basketball is my weakness & if it's on, I'm definitely not going to get much done.

After watching the semi-finals Friday night, I decided that Saturday was going to be studying day, then I'd watch the Championship games, and study the rest of the day. It sounded good like a great plan, in theory. It didn't turn out that way because there was a slight change of plans.

Friday night after the games Dani was saying how weird it was that she wasn't there to watch and how much she wanted to be there. I pointed out that she could drive down there since she didn't have anything going on this next week, or just wait since we're going to go to Casper this weekend. She's very persistent though, and kept insisting she wanted to go. After awhile of begging and coaxing, she convinced me to go with her. We showered, got everything ready, and finally went to bed at 1:00 in the morning.

My alarm went off at 5:00, and we headed out at 6:30. The roads weren't exactly ideal, but we made it to Riverton around 10:15. My parents didn't know we were coming until we walked into the gym. We spent the entire day there, got to see the family, and watched lots of basketball. Both the boys and the girls won the Regional Championship, which was the icing on the cake. We headed back that night after the games got over around 8:30. The roads were horrible on the way back and we didn't get into Laramie until 12:30 in the morning.

I was stressed out, tired, grouchy, and really behind on my studying, however, it was totally worth it and I'd do it again in a heart beat. Sometimes a last second decision is the best decisions you can make!! Now, all I have to do is survive these next couple days, and we'll be heading to Casper Thursday afternoon for an entire weekend of relaxing, basketball, and spending time with the fam. I can't wait!!

Wish Granted.....

This summer I have to do 2 rotations: a community one and a institutional one. I put in my preferences a few weeks ago in Dr. Krueger's class. She told us that we weren't going to get our results until the beginning of March to the middle of March. The program we went through, is super quick & tries to give everyone the best results possible, so the process takes quite a while. They let us put in up to 20 preferences, but we aren't guaranteed to get any of them; however, they try to accommodate everyone as best they can.

I got an email today with my results of where I'll be going this summer. I'm happy to say that I got exactly where I wanted to go and the times that I wanted them. My first rotation starts May 23rd and goes to June 17th. I'm going to be working at the Walgreen's in Cody for my community rotation. My second rotation starts June 20th and goes to July 15th. For this one, I'll be working at the Worland Hospital for my institutional rotation. I got the third rotation off, so I'll get the rest of the summer off. Which means I'll get a nice long break before school starts off again.

These rotations are as close to Lovell as I could get, so I was really hoping that I'd get them so I could be home all summer. It's not going to be fun to have to drive every day, but I'll take it! Not only was I able to get the sites that I wanted, but I was also able to get the time period off that I wanted. I really didn't want to be doing a rotation in August, and my wish was granted! This will be a great summer, well as great as it can be having to work for free!! :)

Accomplished.....

Did you know that you're supposed to change the filter in your heater every 6 months? Well I didn't. I knew it needed to be changed but never really thought about it. It hasn't been changed since I've moved in, so it's been over 2 & 1/2 years!! Lately our heater hasn't been working right and getting up to the right temperature. We couldn't figure out what was going on until Kaia talked to her dad and he said it was the filter.
This is what a filter is suppose to look like
And this is what ours looks like
Just a little bit of a difference. We changed it the other day, it's working like a champ, and I learned a lesson. Now I will always remember that the air filter needs to be changed regularly. It's true, you really do learn something new every day!

Time Flies.....

Usually the saying goes time flies when you're having fun. Well for me time is flying by but not because I'm having fun. I've had some good times this semester with my friends & Dani, but for the most party it's because I'm super busy with everything that I have to do. There's not much down time that I have.

There's never a dull moment in my schedule with going to class, weekly quizzes, lab, presentations, exams, my calling, and now +1's with the Sister Missionaries. My to do list has plenty of stuff on it each and every day, there's always something that I have to study for.

The good thing about a busy semester is that it goes by quickly. Next weekend I get to have a nice break and get to head to Casper to watch state basketball and see my family. I can't wait to have a weekend when I'm not going to have think about schoolwork.
The week after that I don't have any exams... AMAZING! I don't even know what that's going to feel like. At the end of the week after I get back from state is Spring Break. I can't believe it's already that time of year. There's only a month left of school after that. I can't believe how quick it's going by. I've already had 2 exams in one of my classes, and it feels like we haven't even been in school that long.

February is almost over, and it has just flown by. That's the one nice thing about having a super busy semester, it makes time go quick, and that's the best thing you can ask for when you have a busy, stressful, hard semester!!

Memories.....

I love living with Dani. We always have so much fun together. We might get into an argument once in awhile, but I didn't expect anything less. Despite the small arguments, we've had a great time & gotten along very well. We love living together (well hopefully she feels the same way, she seems to), and it makes school so much better. There's so many fun times that we have together, & we're joined at the hip (unless I'm at school or something like that :D).

The other night we went to get a drink at Snowy's & had to take a picture to send to Kara & Jason because they have the best fountain pop ever & they always got it when they lived here. So since we were drinking the good stuff we had to rub it in a little! We had to ride around, see the sites of Laramie, jam out to some music, & enjoy the best soda ever.
Tonight we were bored after watching Jersey Shore (which we religiously watch every Thursday night), so we decided to put on our "Back in the Day" music from middle school & high school and take pictures. Sometimes you have to just be stupid and take funny pictures! Of course we had to dress up, so we got all "thugged out." Dani didn't think I looked very gangster with my poses, but I'm just not a natural like she is, so this is all I got!!
I love my roomie & best friend. I'm so glad that she came down to Laramie to live with me! We've made some pretty great memories so far.

Superbowl XLV.....

Yesterday I watched the Superbowl. Normally I don't watch it, in fact watching it yesterday was only the 2nd time in 21 years that I have. I've never gotten into watching the NFL & could honestly care less about it.

I watched most of the game (even though it wasn't very good) because Kristen & Calvin wanted to come over to watch it. We had a lot of fun: we ate some great food and just hung out. Kristen & Calvin brought the snacks and I made homemade pizza. All the food was delicious & was what made watching the game worth it!
The half-time show was not impressive & the commercials were not all that they were built up to be. I was so excited to watch the game that I actually took a nap for almost the whole 3rd quarter. I found out that I really haven't been missing much all these years, but it was fun to hang out with all my friends. It made some good memories & that's about all I got out of the Superbowl experience!

A Little Surprise.....

Well today is already been a good day. Since I had an exam yesterday morning in Patho, I decided not to go to class today. This is the first time in 3 years that I decided to not go to class for no reason. It went against the grain, but sometimes it's good to skip class! I've been relaxing this morning and got on to check my email. I was informed that my class this afternoon is also cancelled because of the freezing cold weather we have down here.

Self-Care is taught by a bunch of different teachers who have other jobs off campus in different towns, so when the weather is bad we can't have class. They have a make-up lecture time scheduled on Friday, but for this lecture due to schedule conflicts, there's not going to be a time to make it up. We have weekly quizzes in that class, and since it was cancelled this week, everyone is getting full points for the quiz!

It's not a big thing, but it totally made my day. I have another exam tomorrow morning, and I really need the extra time to look over my material, so my day won't be a total waste of time I still plan on being productive. I just love little surprises, sometimes they're just what you need to brighten your day!!
